Hands-on program for kids ages 10-17 to learn the fundamentals of fishing. It covers essential skills like casting, knot tying, and fish identification, along with water safety and conservation. The goal is to provide a practical, engaging experience that helps young anglers develop confidence and a deeper understanding of the sport.
Our goal is to provide a fun fishing experience while also teaching the students about conservation and our environment
During select weeks anglers with have the opportunity to assist local conservation groups like The Indian River clam restoration project. This hands-on work gives them a better appreciation for our river systems and the need to protect them. While we are fishing I teach anglers skills like knot tying, fish identification and rigging various baits. My number one priority is safety so I always err on the side of caution.
Space is limited so book today! I look forward the getting these young anglers on the water while instilling in them a passion for conservation and environmental stewardship

Meet the captain
firefighter and paramedic for 30 years
Captain David "Gio" Giovannini is a USCG licensed captain and charter guide. Captain "Gio" has fished the waterways of the Banana and Indian rivers for many years. His love for the water continued as he became a professional water skier at Sea World in Orlando and Cypress Gardens and even skied at The Masters Water Ski Tournament located in Pine Mountain Georgia. After hanging up his skis he had a 30 year career as a professional firefighter and paramedic retiring in 2023. Space Coast Fishing Academy was started in 2024 in hopes to share my knowledge of fishing and conservation. Captain "Gio" resides in Satellite Beach with his wife and has five children and two grandchildren. When not on the water you can find him hunting with his family in Georgia in the fall.
